From PWH Founder, The Late Dr. Claude Noel "I want to present many words of thanks to our sponsors and the members of the PWH U.S. Board. You have encouraged me by your involvement in the work in Haiti. My full desire has always been for Haitian leaders to govern the Haitian church, but we never imagined of doing it alone. "

"To obtain the endorsement and support of Christians from many places has taken me all over the US, Canada, England, Germany, Holland and France. Most of my friends in Haiti think I am a rich man. Only my two wives have known the truth! We have lived by prayer and thrift. Our God is faithful. Yours in Christ, Claude Noel."

Man with a Vision

Partners with Haiti was the vision of Dr. Jean Claude Noel. Dr. Noel was born and raised in Haiti. God spared his life at birth despite severe malnutrition. He attended an Unevangelized Fields Mission (UFM) primary school where he learned about Christ and accepted Him as his personal Savior and Lord. Later, he attended the Evangelical School of the Bible, also sponsored by the UFM. His spiritual gifts were recognized and he began serving the Lord preaching in many places throughout Haiti. Soon he was led to advance his Biblical education.

He came to Rhode Island where he attended Barrington College and met Dr. David Madeira, Pastor of Barrington Baptist Church. Together, they established Partners with Haiti. At Barrington, he also met Lydie, who was a pastor's daughter from Cap Haitien. Upon graduating from Barrington they were married at the college, and returned to Haiti with the love and prayers of many friends from New England and beyond.

For over twenty years Dr. Noel served as a national worker with UFM International, pastoring Bolosse Baptist Church in Port au Prince, a church that grew to over 2,000 in attendance. Later he founded Nazon Evangelical Church, CEEH (Council of Evangelical Churches of Haiti), and AFCA Baptist Church.

Lydie had always shared a vision of meeting the needs of women in their country. A ministry to disadvantaged women and children of Port au Prince emerged. Training was provided in sewing and the basics of life, such as hygiene and nutrition. Out of the Noel's labors grew the two most prominent current ministries of Partners, Bethany Project and AFCA Village ministry (Association of Christian Women in Action). Lydie Noel has since gone to be with the Lord, but her legacy lives on. In 2007 Dr. Noel married Huguette, formerly of Port au Prince and Montreal, Canada. Huguette still resides near Miami, FL. The beloved Pastor Claude Noel has gone to be with the Lord.

Dr. Claude Noel's influence for Christ is felt wherever Haitians reside, on or off the island. This past winter of 2017 he turned over the management of his ministries in Haiti to Renes Deciere, pastor of the AFCA Baptist Church for the past 18 years. He is an inspiration to his people. We still love him and acknowledge and are thankful for his three-quarters of a century of service to the Evangelical churches in Haiti and the U.S.
