Day of Prayer

“Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Heb. 4:16

We had our first Annual Day of Prayer June 1, 2024 via zoom in English and Creole. This event was inspired by Lydie Noel and her friends who were the pioneers of the “Association des Femmes Chretiennes en Action”, AFCA.  Every day on her way to work, Lydie would pass by these homeless women in the streets of Port-au-Prince begging for a few cents to feed their babies. With her heart full of compassion for them and together with her friends, she started a program that would teach these needy women a trade and offer daycare for the babies.  These ladies of AFCA fervently believed in the power of prayer.  Because of their prayers, AFCA grew from humble beginnings in the backyard of an office building to what it is today.  By God’s grace and mercy, AFCA continues to thrive and impact many lives.

June 1st, 2024 Day of Prayer Zoom Meeting

Last June we gathered in different states throughout the US and cities in Haiti on Zoom. We prayed for PWH, AFCA, and Haiti. Lynda Noel and Pastor Renes Deciere, both PWH board members, coordinated this event. They prepared a list of items for prayer and then individuals could volunteer to pray simply by raising their hands. Throughout our time together we prayed, we read scripture (Daniel 10, Jonah 3, and Palm 84), and sang hymns in Creole and French. We also heard testimonies of God’s work in the past, watched a short video on the history of AFCA village and received updates on present and future projects for AFCA. Throughout the morning we had people joining us as their schedule allowed.

Our next Day of Prayer is May 31st.   Our theme this year will be “Haiti Leve!,  Haiti Arise! “You, my people will know that I am the Lord when I open your graves and bring you up from them.  I will put my spirit in you, and you will live, and I will settle you in your land!” Ezekiel 37:13-14.  We would love to have you join us.
